Overdentures (Implant Retained Dentures)
Overdentures (Implant retained dentures) are an exciting part of the dental services offered at Murrumba Downs Family Dental. Dentures are well known for looking great. However they are also known for being loose, catching food and being difficult to eat with. Traditionally, dental implants (titanium screw) are placed in the jaw followed by crowns/teeth being attached on top.
Here at Murrumba Downs Family Dental, our dental surgeons have been successfully connecting dental implants to dentures (also known as overdentures). Once the overdenture is connected to the implants, your denture becomes instantly rigid/fixed. This means that significantly less food gets caught underneath, and you can suddenly chew, cut and eat with ease.
Its genuinely one of our favourite dental treatments that we offer to patients because its a complete game-changer in the way it significantly improves the quality of life of our patients.
What’s involved?
The starting point varies for you, depending on how many teeth you have left. Basically, the first step is to remove teeth where your implants need to go. The second step involves placing the titanium dental implants after appropriate 3D planning, and allow for healing to occur over a 3 month period. Then, we will make your new set of dentures, which will precision fit onto the implants. They ‘click’ into place, and you are ready to show off your new, stable, beautiful smile to the world.
I’m interested, what’s the first step?
We will need to see you for a consultation and 3D CT Xray, to assess the available bone, examine the existing teeth/dentures and discuss the ins and outs of what we can do for you. Please give us a call via our contact page, or you can book a dental implant consultation online at any time using our booking platform.
